Post Break out from mask
I have had my CPAP for two weeks now. I enjoy sleeping all night. I have a Respironics gel mask. Fits great and works great. The problem is the bridge of my nose broke out after the second night. How do I get that healed up? I have lossened the mask as far as I can and have been placing a small tefon bandage pad between the mask and my nose. Any tricks to healing this up or will it heal on is't own in time? Question

I think it will heal on its own
perhaps the mask is rubbing there and needs to be tightened

some people get help by applying skin lotion to the face before wearing the mask

Wow! I came here to post about the exact same problem! My mask doesn't feel too loose or too tight or hurt at all, but I have a sore spot each morning  Sad

I'd be interested in knowing if yours clears up on it's own like Lynn says. I just started on this therapy this past Monday, so I'm really a newbie!

My mask has a thin plastic sheet that fits over my nose. I think it is to make a better seal. When I called where I got the mask he suggested to cut a slit up the middle to within 1/8" of the mask. I tried that but it didn't seem to help. I have been placing a small bandaid over the bridge of my nose trying to heal it up. Last night I cut out the entire sheet that I had put the slit in without damaging the mask. Seemed to feel better, but won't know till I heal up and try again without the bandaid.  Silenced

That sounds like a similar design on mine. What I've been doing is taking a small piece of kleenex and placing it across my nose and then putting the mask. Maybe after your spot heals, you can try this.

Other than this problem, have you found the C-pap to be helpful to you?

I know I am sleeping better. I fall asleep rather fast. I am also dreaming more often, so I know I am getting into my REM sleep I wasn't getting before.  I hate to say it but my wife is having trouble adjusting to the CPAP machine. I breath faster than she does and she tends to try to breath as fast as I do because she can hear my breathing is louder through the machine. Still better than my snoring though.  Laughing
