I will be getting a REMstar Auto CPAP with Heated Humidifier in a few days. I am looking forward to finally getting the Auto CPAP. I am planning on getting the Encore Pro Software with Card Reader for it, because I'm geeky like that. Trying to justify the $200 for it to the wife is a bit difficult. Anyone know if there are any alternative software packages out there that are cheaper and work with this machine? From what I have read, the software isn't really user-friendly so alot of people get the MyEncore software by Derek to make it a little easier to read. MyEncore apparently needs to have the Encore Pro software in order to run.

I'm only a day away from completing my order for the same machine.  When I looked at the software package, I couldn't help but be amazed at how high the price was for the software when the card reader was included.  In this case, they charge $100 for the card reader and it doesn't seem any different from the Smart Card reader I have on my all-in-one HP7410 network printer.

If you've had a chance to look at the card and reader, I wonder if you wouldn't mind confirming or rejecting my assumption so I can decide if the card reader is really important in the scheme of things.

I read somewhere that the card reader isn't the normal reader. Something about normal readers only read a certain portion of the card and these cards need to be read all the way. I don't know much about the readers at all. But, I have seen other posts from people on another forum stating that they had found a card reader that would work for like $30, but they didn't say anything about what software to use.

I ordered the DT3500 tonight. Should be here in about a week. Also, I ended up getting a call from my DME today and he got my new machine in today, so I went and picked it up. I have it all setup and ready for my first night on it. Pressure on it is currently set to 5-20, so it could be a long nite...

Wish me luck. I will be ordering the EncorePro software friday.

You have to have an Infineer smartcard reader (usb is best) for the RemStar unit.  Buy it here for $30 including shipping.  They have a weird website, you have to add the reader, then go add the shipping method you want to your shopping cart
