Post Do you “PAP” when you nap?
I do. Early in my journey into CPAP land, I asked my pulmonologist if I should use my CPAP if I took a nap. His answer was ‘absolutely”. I have been “on the hose” since 01/03/05, and I use my CPAP when I sleep.

It stands to reason that our bodies don’t know if it is taking a nap or if it is engaged in an extended sleep session. It just knows that it is sleeping.

So, from that point on, whenever I sleep, be it for a nap or for a long-term sleep session, I sit on the side of my bed, strap my UltraMirage FF mask onto my face, get my CPAP blowing air, lay down, and go to sleep.

If I don't PAP when I nap, I feel like garbage with an apnea headache before I hit sleep stage 1.

I don't use it either when I nap.  I like to get down deep into the comfy pillow without a mask and hose.
Evening sleep is another story.  Of course I use it then.  But, no PAP for nap for me!

I PAP when I nap. Just seems like I sleep a ton better with the mask than without it.

LOL...cleverly phrased.  I guess I'm getting more than enough quality sleep at night as I haven't needed a nap since I began using the CPAP over two years ago.  If I did nap, however, I would definitely use the CPAP.

I know it's the best thing to do.  I'm still fairly new to the CPAP, and though I need to use it at night, I just still find it too uncomfortable to have on when I want a nap.  I'm sure in time that will change.  I still have to get used to all that air flow.

I rarely get the chance to nap and since getting my CPAP I only had two chances that snuck up on me   Wink   I was watching tv, laying on the couch, something i really wanted to see too.  I was out and sleeping but not for long.  I have always snored, and thought that I snored SO loud that I woke myself up.  Now that I know more about OSA, i think what was happening is i was plugged up and woke up due to gasping for air.  this happened at least three times in the 20 to 30 mins i was out...

to answer the question:  if it was a planned nap i WOULD PAP!  without this machine i DO NOT sleep well, even for a short time like a 'power nap'   Smile
