Fatigue & Oooops!
Author Message

Post Fatigue & Oooops!
Fatigue causes us to do some strange things, often not funny but other times they leave you just shaking your head.  Many often say, "why did I do that" without asosciating the action to fatigue.
The word fatigue means different things to different people.  I have seen all these symptom decriptions plus others that I can not recall at this time:  Tiredness, sleepy, lazy, foggy, Zombie, lethargic, depressed, no energy, mood altering, forgetful, mindless.  Lack of cognitive thinking, inability to rationalize, sleep drunkeness, automatic actions/behavior are all signs of fatigue.

I was thinking it would be interesting to share our OOOPS  d'oh! creating it as a list.  I will start by posting a few things I have done, but believe me, it is only a partial list!   I  hope others join in...go ahead and repeat something already listed if you have done it!

1) constantly putting a glass down on a non-existing surface...CRASH!
2) try to turn off the back yard with the TV remote when leaving the window's view
3) forget to take the car out of reverse...bye bye mailboxes
4) got in the shower and forgot why I was in there
5) forget that mother nature is calling
6) leaving burners on
7) burning dinner
8) putting dirty dishes in the freezer...one way to accumulate leftovers!
9) cat litter in the washing machine

When I used to work outside of the home,  I would often give callers my number instead of the office's.  My daughter would take the strange calls, figure it out and point them in the right direction. "That's just Mom again." The truly agravating thing that I do , is when I go to the grocery, I'd bring home stuff that needed refrigeration and forget to put it away., not remembering until it had to go in the garbage.  We have a good on-line grocer here, so I started using that a couple of years ago. Stuff is a bit more expensive, and I pay a delivery charge, but everything gets put away, and I have eliminated impulse shopping, so I spend less.  Virginia

At each of my three sleep studies, I discovered most of the techs sleep with CPAPs too (presumably because they have to, not because they are sympathetic!)

So here is a list of Sleep Study Report Bloopers, which proves that techs with OSA must get 'foggy brain' too!  LOL

Total sleep time was 312 days with an efficiency index of 62%.

Snoring was pleasant during study.

Waking up choking and grasping for air.

Patient slept peacefully in waiting room, no data.

Patient left facility without permission, possibly asleep.

Complaints of inflamed memory are common.

Patient has experienced disrupted sleep since 1898.

Arrived at clinic on time, but without clothing.

Insomnia resulting in excessive sleep.

No cardiac rhythm detected.

A slight noise was noticed upon expiration.

Patient brought medicine - M&Ms.

Reports normal sleep including short bursts of screaming.

Adjusted well to full-face rash.

Patient had multiple arousals while awake.

Both studies experienced machine failure, please schedule another.

Patient claims cannot sleep without waking up, cannot stay awake without falling asleep.

His rapid heart rate eventually subsided.

Experienced no difficulty in perspiration.

Patient complains of constant traffic accidents.

PLMD test discovered no limbs.

Study indicates destructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Patient refused C R A P.   [spaces added to avoid the censor]

OMG my sides hurt reading this yet again!!!!  ha ha ha ha ha ha

Then there was the time my husband was waiting for me in the car and I went in to pick up take out.  I came out and  got into a perfect stranger's car and told him "What the hell are you waiting for, move it."  My husband was in the car behind with his head on the steering wheel not wanting anyone to know I belonged to him.

Posted this on another site, so reposting here:

I can add one.  The other night, I took my 5 mg of Ambien at 10:00 pm, went to bed at 11:00pm, read till my eyes were droopy, put on my mask, turned out the light and went to sleep.  The next morning I discovered, I never turned on my CPAP.  I spent the whole night breathing through the small vent in the mask.  I felt like an idjet.

I don't even want to talk about the time I drove 30 miles to my doctor's office instead of to a neighboring town 2 miles away for a dentist appointment.

This just in:

I was simmering beef stew on the stove, while on the counter I was pouring dry dog food into a measuring cup.  I then proceeded to dump it into the stew instead of the dog's dish.

Dr. Teeth's second note to self:  Cancel dinner at Maria7's
