Anyone know if Medicare covers dental devices for OSA and snoring?

Thanks.

Sorry I missed your question, Jerry. Yes, they do, but you must locate a provider who accepts Medicare AND knows about these appliances. Medicare even pays fairly well. If you are by ANY chance close to Pennsylvania, Dr. Barry Glassman is in Allentown, and could certainly help you.

Post Dental device for severe OSA?
Hi.

I've been reacently diagnosed with severe OSA.  Because I hated CPAP, I've tried the pillar procedure and radiofrequency without success.  Now I wanna try out a dental device to see if it works before considering again what it seems to be the inevitable:  The CPAP.  I just went into this forum and read that the dental device, like everytiing else, doesn't seem to work in severe cases of OSA.  Is it not worth the try, or are there dental devices specialized for severe OSA?  Any help or advice would be great.

John.

Post oral devices
I have had a CPAP for 2 years.  Cannot get used to it.  My personal experience...last summer I was fitted w/the oral/dental device (I live in Buffalo, NY).  After only 2 minor adjustments my jaw was so out of whack that it only made the migraines (that had been in control) completely flair up again.  Had to stop it.

I see my ENT tomorrow re: UVPP surgery.

Hi everyone - I have some questions about dental devices.  I have been totally committed to my CPAP for about 2 years and it has saved my life. I am 37 and not overweight, but I was a walking corpse before the CPAP. I was also lucky enough to have a girlfriend who understood the need for me to play elephantman every night.  The problem is that she's gone now and I am struggling to imagine how to sell myself to the next Ms Right with a garden hose coming out of my face.  Anyway, I had the UPPP surgery 2 years ago - waste of time, money and heartache.  Also had the deviated septum corrected - good call.  The next thing I want to try is the dental device as that may be an easier sell to a prospective mate. I have a large overbite and when I move my jaw forward, I feel immediate relief in breathing.  My ENT is not helpful and has told me he doesn't know any dentist who does it, end of story.  Can anyone suggest a starting point for finding an experienced dental technician to assess the opportunity?  Getting... sleepy...  Dear mike, i am so jealous of you, i'm living death and cpap gives me panic attacks---

Like you,  I have a huge overbite and no chin----- no wonder we're sensitive about getting geeked up by an appliance the minute we have managed some shred of cool.

As for your new girlfriend  Frankly, a guaranteed no - snore guy is quite the sales angle. Listening to somebody strangle all night without staying poised to call 911 is beyond my yogic abilities.

And, she may prefer you quietly, safely happy in the land of nod, with what works best rather than something less effective to look better while everyone is asleep anyway.

Kids go through the "I gotta wear my halloween mask to bed " phase and ordinary moms have no problem kissing her cherubic bleeding Frankenstein and thinking he's cute because she sees the kid, not the mask.

If the Ms. Right applicant doesn't seem wired like this and needs you to look good even while sleeping,  just  kick her to the curb, she's simply 'way too silly and shallow to give you anything but brain damage.

When the negotiations get serious, what about you throw in that she can sleep with curlers and goop on her face ? What do you care if you're asleep?  Add that to the no-snore angle----and I think elephant man has struck a very attractive deal!
