Post A new resource for sufferers of sleep apnea
Greetings,

Please know that I am not trying to poach any members, I simply want to let everyone know about a new site for those of us with sleep apnea. I believe that awareness is key and there can never be too many resources.  I am building this forum in my spare time and I know it will grow, I will also need moderators for it because I work full time and I want to make sure there is always someone on duty for quality control. I think it would be helpful to just post the email that I sent, it explains everything and I'll be honest with you, my fingers are really tired.

Thanks for reading - Benjamin

Hello,

My name is Benjamin. I work for a web agency in Milwaukee. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea earlier this year. I had suspected I have had it since I was a child but I didn't know much about it. I was at the doctor and he looked in my throat and said "Wow, you have really bad sleep apnea, you need to get to a study immediately". He was working on some studies with a few colleagues to prove that many illnesses are misdiagnosed and are actually symptoms of sleep apnea. He made an appointment for me at a sleep center and said he would ask them to work with me because I am uninsured. I went in for my study but couldn't sleep enough for them to get a reading, they charged me $2900.00 but knocked $2000  because I didn't have insurance and they were concerned. They asked me to come back but when I said I couldnt afford it they said they wouldn't charge me. I went back for another over nighter. They told me I would need a bipap machine, a cpap wouldn't work. He said that I had a very high prescription for someone my age. 19/10 and I needed to get on a machine right away. I called to get one, I was told $3400. There is no way I could do it. I was so discouraged I gave up after a while. Well, I started to see the correlation between so many problems I have had in my life and sleep apnea. I did horribly in school even though I am an intelligent person from an academic family. I didn't go to college. I have had no energy my entire life, high blood pressure, a depleted sex drive that has caused several painful breakups. Sleep apnea has ruined my life. I started to do heavy research online and became obsessed. 2 weeks ago I was able to come to an agreement with a medical supply place to get a resmed vpap iii machine on payments. I am still getting used to it, but I am so relieved to have finally gotten it. This is why I am contacting you. I have opened a website called helpmebreath.com I am in the process of building it, but I have the discussion boards finished for the most part. I want to create a an online forum for people suffering from sleep apnea and people who are interested in learning more about it. I agree with the physician who saw me, sleep apnea effects more people than we know, and the effects are devastating, and so sad because it really is preventable if its caught.

I have worked in internet marketing for many years and I know how to drive traffic to a website, I know search engines, and I know that when I was looking for information I was not happy with how hard I had to dig to find it. I believe that I will be able create a forum that people will find when searching for various symptoms that are related to sleep apnea. Would you please consider placing a link to the website on your site. I would appreciate the help in building it. The website is not for profit. I originally opened it to try to tell my story and raise money to buy a bipap machine, but I have one now, so I don't need it. The site is getting traffic and it would be a shame to waste it.

Please consider placing a link to http://www.helpmebreath.com on your site. Currently there is only a redirect to the discussion forum which I put online yesterday, but in the next week I will be adding an article section, and blog etc. I work full time so I cannot dedicate all my time to it but I will work on it when I have time, and these forums tend to grow on their own.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email, and any help would be much appreciated by me and the rest of the sleep apnea community.

Sincerely,

Benjamin P
