Thank you all who responded. All seem to be very satisfied with the nasal pillows. Looks like I will give it a try. Thanks for the tip on the lotion too.

Thank you so much for the link.  I did get the pap pillow and was using it with my mask.  Tried my own pillow with the pillows but that didn't work too well.  Just have to find the right position I guess.  The hose falls differently and I can't find just the right groove in the pillow for it.  I'm sure it'll call come together.  Probably would help if I moved the cat off the pillow too.  LOL

Second night with the swift pillows didn't go as well.  I must be being punished for bragging so much about the first night.  LOL

I'm going to try the large tonight instead of the medium and hopefully that will do the trick.  I'm actually quite optimistic about it all.  I've been lucky so far.  I guess I thought this whole experience would be worse than it is.  It takes a little time, but it's so much better than feeling lousy all day long.

I received my swift nasal pillow in the mail today. Wish me luck, I need to get this part behind me so I can get a good nights sleep. Will keep you posted.

This may sound silly to some of the old timers here, but I'm going to "throw this out there" just because it happened to me.  Having used the mask, with the hose hooked in the center, the whole pillow thing on the end was new to me.  For some silly reason, I thought I could sleep more comfortable with the hose on the side that "wasn't" resting on the pillow.  I know, I know...it pulls and What the heck was I thinking?

Just want to say, last night the big lightbulb came on upstairs and I put the tube on the side that rests on the pillow and I slept ALL night!

Well, I was told by the tech that fit me with the Swift that the hose should be away from the pillow. Maybe I'll try it your way tonight. Anyone else put the hose on the low end?

I sleep on both sides during each night, for me the critical comfort factor with the swift was leaving the hose free (not using the velcro to secure it to the headgear) then I sleep well with it, hose up or hose down.

I just got my new ResMed Swift Nasal Pillow today and it looks to be a HUGE improvement over my old Mirage mask. Over the past six months I spent avg. 2-3 hrs/night adjusting the darned straps so it wouldn't leak air into my eyes, then have to readjust every time I turn over, or get up to use the bathroom. I'd tilt it up and it'd pinch the base of my nose and leak at the bottom, tilt it down and it bit into my upper lip and leaked at the top. Pain in the rear!! Get the headgear tight enough to stop the leak and it gave me a headache. Plus, the thing sounded like a jet engine running. Cleaning it was a major chore, especially getting all the nooks and crannies dry. GLAD it's gone!!

I spotted this new one at the homecare center and thought this might be the one for me. It's light as a feather and showed no signs of leakage when I put it through my "torture test" in the fitting room (I move a lot in my sleep -- always have). Pushed, pulled and tugged on it from every angle and got no leakage when it was adjusted right. It's a lot more comfortable and I don't look like Hannibal Lecter wearing it (more like a scuba diver now, LOL). I'll have more to say when I've used it a few nights.

I waited a few nights to see if it was just a dream. The nasal pillow is GREAT!!! It felt comfortable as soon as I put it on. No more pressure sores on my nose from the gel mask. No more air blowing on my eyes. Alot less breathing noise. I am planning on sleeping in in the morning and that hasn't happened in years. The advice from all of you is great. If I have any problems or questions this will be the first place I come.      

I started out with some kind of nasal pillows -brand unknown size medium. How do you handle the air? It is less restrictive than my gel mask but the air intake was huge. Couldn't breath that fast. Also the exhaust tube air was violent and could open your eyelids if you left it aimed there.

To anyone questioning the use of the Swift Nasal Pillows, do not fear!  They're really good.  I keep the humidifier turned up to th 4th setting, and it helps keep the nose moist.  I'm sensitive to uncomfortable things on my body.  The "pillows" are the least restrictive of available masks, as far as I'm concerned.
I tried on other masks, and had to tear them off during the fitting.  I felt so claustrophopic.  The nasal pillows leave you feeling a lot more free.  There wasn't even a second guess on my part by getting this.

  Love the Swift Nasal Pillows overall. For some reason, I have problems with it when I sleep on my left side. It wants to press uncomfortably against my nostrils in this position, but on my right side, I seem to have no probem at all. Funny. Also found that the humidifier -- I set on about '2' -- helps prevent nasal irritation, which I had the first two mornings after I'd used it. I drive a truck for a living and don't know what I'll do when I hit the road again. I leave the humidifier/heater at home because it's a pain on the road, trying to fill and clean it. It can get too messy. Guess I'll try some of the saline gel stuff that was mentioned in an earlier thread, if I can find it at the drugstore.

But overall,it's great -- light and I haven't had a leak yet with it.
