I feared going to sleep because of recurring dreams about drowning. I would wake up paralyed and scared to death.  I could not move for what seemed like an eternity but it was probably only a minute or two.  HATED to sleep!!!  Now I can't remember the last time I dreamed of drowning.

Very frequently I have dreams that someone is trying to kill me. In many dreams, they succeed in killing me and all goes black, then I wake up. Very vivid dreams, too. The people are random, no one I know. The key part is that I'm always defenseless. Home intrusion, thief, or just some random nonsensicial scenario of a killer coming after me. I fight back, usually with a firearm. I shoot and shoot, but the bullets do no damage. They just take the shot and keep on coming.

I have no idea what the dreams mean or why I have them so frequently. The only interpretation I have of them is that it conveys a deep sense of helplessness. My shrink said they mean nothing as long as I don't wake up in a panic or freaked out. They don't bother me. I wake up, go, "heh, interesting" and go back to sleep. Still, I'd like to figure out what they're all about.
