Post 3rd night, questions about humidifier
My 3rd night went even better. I slept like a baby from 9:30 until 12, then I woke up and the air seemed cold and was bothering me and I got up and re-put the hoses in, etc., but it seemed like the humidifier was working because there was condensation in the chamber and the light was on.  I couldn't get back to sleep for a while but when I did I slept good until 4am.  Then there was like a lot of air coming in through my nose from what I remember and when I breathed in or out (I can't remember) there was like an echoing down the hose.  I peek at the reading and it said 6.5 so that is hardly any pressure so what was it?  I can't really explain it and the air was coolish compared to the 1st night which really bothered me so just took the mask off because I couldn't get back to sleep.  Do you think there is a problem?  I am wondering if at 4am I should have hit the ramp button or not? Any suggestions?  I don't think I am doing bad for the 3rd night.  No headaches or that fuzzy blurred feeling in my head and I have been a lot more reasonable yesterday and today.  I feel like i need to go to bed later than 9pm but I couldn't stay awake.  Maybe I will sleep later if I do that.  I am just concerned today about the humidifer though.

Thanks!

Wendy

Ok, after reading another thread I realized that I can change the humidifier.  It was set at 1 so I put it on 3.  Maybe that will help tonight.  Still not sure about the noise though at 4am.  I don't know what I would do without this forum.  You would have thought the DME lady would have told me I could change it.

Try getting a longer hose and running it under the top of your bed by your pillow. That kind of helps insulate the hose and will help keep the air a little warmer. Alot of people recommend the Aussie Heated Hose. It is mainly used when your mask is "raining" on your face, but I would assume that it would help warm the air for you. Personally, I have to have cool air blowing in my face, or I feel claustrophobic.

As for the noise, I think it is possible that you had some condensation in your hose and the air rushing through the ribbed hose might have been causing it to "percalate". But then you said that the HH was only set on 1, so that makes it unlikely. Is it possible that you had overfilled the humidifier and some of the water got blown into the hose?

Good luck and let us know!

I think it is just the noise from me breathing out and from reading another post it seems like I am not the only one noticing it.  There is condensation in the chamber but I haven't noticed anything in the hose.  I turned the heat from 1 to 3 and last night was much better.  Thanks for the tip on putting the hose under my pillow.  I will keep that in mind.

Thanks!
Wendy
