Post how long does it take to notice improvement with cpap
Hi all,
I am new here.  Just diagnosed last week with sleep apnea. Had a study to rule out narcolepsy and found out I have sleep apnea. My RDI/AHI was 25.4.  I have been on cpap 2 nights and I am not feeling better, how long until I feel better?  I need to feel better, I have been miserable for years.  I have tried losing weight and have gotten to only about 5 pounds over a BMI of 25 which is normal weight and that has not helped.  I am wearing the mask 8 hours at night, is there hope for me?

Are you sleeping well, as far as you know, with cpap? Is your mask leaking? What type of machine/mask? What pressure?

I felt better right away, but results vary.

My son slept in the bed last night so sleep wasn't great.  I have a Remstar at variable c flex5-15, no mask leaks I don't think.

I felt very good after my sleep test/titration, and felt that cpap would help me immensely, and, indeed, I have been feeling better, more awake, less likely to need a nap, and sleeping through the night with only occassional wakeups due to mask movement or discomfort. I'd say give it some time to work. Others will chime in here shortly, no doubt.

I've been on the APAP for just 4 nights now. I am still tired during the day although I think I'm a bit less tired than before. Hard to say right now. I know I do sleep better in that I only wake now when I turn over or need to adjust the mask. I no longer wake in the middle of the night sweaty and toss and turn for an hour trying to get back to sleep. I can sleep 8-9 hours now and I can't remember how many years it's been since I could do that.

I have heard others here state that it took a couple of weeks to really feel better, and I just assume that I'm one of those people. I do think that I have a bit more energy but I tire easily. That's better than the zero energy I had last week. I'm staying optimistic.  Smile

Post A few days but a few wweks for big improvement.
I noticed a change for the better in just  afew days but it really took 3-5 weeks before I realized how much better I was feeling overall.  The mask takes some getting used to.  Stay with it!  These days, I actually look forward to sleep rather than fight it tooth and nail every night!

I felt amazing for a couple days after my tritation, but I haven't gotten my cpap for home yet, so after a couple days I was right back to feeling like garbage again.
