For the past three years I have had seizures in my sleep and the reason and cure have not been found yet. I have similar symptoms of fatigue as many in the forum and my dad had sleep apnea. I also have "excercise induced asthma," meaning my breathing gets strained quickly and easily while I am excercising. I am 22 years old, thin, active, and overall healthy. Some tests came out positive that I have hypoglycemia, but all of my testing since has proven those tests wrong. I have asked my doctor to get me tested for sleep apnea.
I have random petite mal seizures while I'm awake and at random times, but usually when I am especially tired and stressed (good and bad stress). They have become more frequent (over the past 8 years, although for 5 years I didn't know what they were because they seemed like just a strange deja vu sensation with strong effects). I have been having grand mal seizures (lots of jerking) at least every 3 months over the past three years, but only while sleeping. Those have become more frequent as well (pretty much once a month since April 2005). My husband said that my breathing sounds very strained right before I go into a seizure, like I am being strangled and trying to catch my breath. Sometimes he can wake me up before I can go into a seizure. We don't know if it is me already in a seizure or if it is leading me into one.
I do not have epillepsy. I do have a slight scar on my brain, but it is only possible that I got it when I was 6 years old (so why would side effects set in now and not then). And even then, my bump to my head wasn't more than every other kid gets (remind your children not to jump on their beds). I am taking 100 mg of lamictal 2x a day (no other dosage has worked and I can't go any higher). My husband and I want to start our family, but we want to get to the bottom of the seizure thing before we even try. We've heard many scary stories about pregnancy seizures.
Does this info. sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions or research available? I am open to any help/ideas. THANK YOU!
