My son, who will be 4 in July, has OSA and central apneas. He received his CPAP a couple of weeks ago. We had to switch masks the second night. I don't know the name of his mask now, but it has the comfort gel in it. He's a small child, so finding a mask that even fits is difficult. After we changed masks, he went about 5 nights of wearing the mask all night long. Then, for about 4 nights, it was off by about 1am. The last three nights, he's taking it off by 10pm. Last night, I tried to put it back on, which he allowed for the first time, but it was off again by about 2am. According to the sleep study when he used the CPAP, he still had over 400 leg movements, so I know he's moving a lot; but, I don't know if that's causing him to take off the mask. He says he doesn't remember doing it. I also wonder if he's trying to sleep on his stomach in the night.
Tonight, I think I will sleep with him to watch.
Has anyone experienced this, or have any suggestions on what we could do? I keep playing phone tag with the RT and the sleep specialist wants to wait a month to see how he improves before going ahead with anything else. So, we're kinda stuck in this wait-and-see mode, which drives me nuts.
Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
