Post New with CPAP! Can the CPAP cause excess gas?
I have had my CPAP for just over a week, and aside from the typical issues I have noticed quite a bit of gas pressure in the morning. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is it to be expected?

Yes. This is a complication to be expected. I think that usually this problem vanishes over time for most users. This seems to arise from some of the machine air getting shunted down the esophagus to the stomach.
You can find some tips for dealing with this in the FAQ thread on When Things Go Wrong With CPAP here:

Best wishes,
Bill

Thank you very much. That is good to hear because I am not happy with this side effect at all. I made an appointment w/ the Doc to discus this and some other issues. Thanks again for the link and info.

good your discussing this with your doctor, you might want to ask about dropping your pressure by just one or two points; this often will help the areophagia, air swallowing.  He can review your sleep study statistics to see if it might be OK for you to try a reduced pressure.
