Post Good Sleep = Sore Back
My ENT doc diagnosed me with, as she put it, "extremely severe sleep apnea".  So I did the sleep study and was told I stopped breathing 126 times in an hour and my oxygen level was down to 25% at one point.  The told me I was blue.   Shocked    Anyways, they got me on a Resperonics BIPAP Auto M Series machine (set on 24/19) along with five liters of oxygen running into it, and then surgery a month later.  They removed my tonsils (because they were almost touching in the middle of my throat) and adenoids, and did what they called a "base of tongue reduction".  Worst two weeks of my life.

So now two months later I'm all healed up and using my Bipap and a problem has developed.  When I sleep I am totally out of it until morning when the alarm wakes me up.  I don't dream, get up to use the bathroom, or even MOVE.  I wake up in the same position I went to sleep in and as a result my back hurts something terrible.  I mean extreme pain.  The only thing that helps is getting in a hot shower and stretching, and even then my back is still sore all day long.

I live alone so I don't have anyone to kick me and make me change positions, and setting the alarm to wake me up several times a night kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting a good nights sleep.

Anyone else have this problem?

jay61581 I kind of know what your talking about, I have back problems anyway, but now that I am on the VPAP I also sleep most nights in just one position, and I wake up stiff and sore, heck even my hands hurt  and are stiff. Some mornings I just can't wait to get in a steaming hot shower, just to get relief from the pain in the muscles and joints! But it is only a temporary fix, and for me I am not sure if it is the XPAP or just age and arthritis!   But I definitely would rather put up with stiff sore muscles than go back to waking up in the night in a cold sweat gasping for air!  Anyway I just wanted to let you know you are not alone with this problem. Good Luck to You
