Post IM BACK FROM MMA SURGERY 8 DAYS POST OP
I made it back to the living after having MMA surgery on Thursday Aug 7 2008.  Did it work ONLY TIME WILL TELL BUT I AM HAVING MANY MANY VIVID DREAMS.  The doc said that is a good sign and take the healing process day by day.  I want to thank Stormy (who I met on this forum) for coming and seeing me when I was in ICU.  And let me tell you he has been a god send in getting through the first 8 days post op.  I hope my results are as good as his.  THANKS STORMY I LOVE YOU BRO.  I want to point out that if you can make cpap work or a dental appliance this surgery is a tough one and it wasn't until yesterday where I could somewhat function.  I use function very loosely.  In short I feel like my face, ears, head are in a vice it is not pain, but a tight feeling.  I am also very fatigued and tired.  The ICU stay was tough on me for many reasons.  I am now using liquid tylenol and off pain meds.  I have no feeling in my lips or chin.  Now for the good the surgery is over Laughing I am dreaming and i mean dreaming did I say the surgery is over.   I will keep you all posted on my progress and thanks again Stormy  THE BAND OF BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

Hi Scott Sleep-I can understand and imagine what the pain must be like.  You described it very well-sounds like how I felt when I had my C-sections, except anatomically different!  That 'tight, vice like feeling. is a tough one.  I know really nothing about this type of surgery, so I will learn here.  But based on my own experience of surgery in general, that tight feeling (almost feels like a ton of bricks is pulling and stretching the tissue down heavy) subsides within a few weeks-it gets prgressivelt better with each day.  That must be difficult not being able to take solids.

I am SO glad you had a brother to see you!  Someone from here.  That must have been an awesome feeling!  I hope this surgery proves successful for you, and that the bulk of the agony is behind you. Lantern
