My leak isn't due to the mask, I have air escaping between my lips a good share of the night. I'm not opening my mouth, its just escaping gently thru my llps. Pressure escaping thru your lips is pressure therapy lost.
You may have answered a question I've had. So, the leak rate includes air that leaks out your mouth or lips in addition to mask leaks? Last night I tried without lip tape and my leak rate was slightly higher than the previous night. My mouth wasn't any drier without tape than with tape.
My leak rate is reported in L/s (0.06 = 0.36L/m) on the Elite Clinical menu using Mir full. Adding the 24 L/m gives me 60 L/m. From the graph in the Respironics manual, the Leak rate at 12 mm is around 30 L/m . So my leak rate is not acceptable. Is this how you see this?
Now, looking at the Elite manual, it says that it is only recommended for ResMed products, so there are no settings for Non ResMed products.
Magus,
Does your machine have a "mask fit" feature? On mine, if you hold the on/off button down for 3 seconds, it will go into the mask fit mode. It blows high pressure air for 3 minutes and displays a 1-5 star rating of how well the mask is fitting (i.e., how much it is leaking). If you can get the reading to 4 or 5 stars, you're good enough for accurate measurements.

And does it not say, for non-Resmed masks to use the Standard mask selection?
If not, it must be the Clinicians Manual that says that. Sad to say, most local DME suppliers just use the Quick Set Up Guide and NOT the Clinicians Manual.
Go to myresmed.com and register if you haven't already and e-mail them and ask them.
Math is NOT my forte, but your 0.06 L/s = 0.36 L/M has me a bit confused. The allowed leak is 0.4L/s (24L/min). If you are saying the reported leak rate is .06 L/s that would = 3.6 L/M + 24 L/M = a true leak rate of 27.6 which is a leak rate that is well w/in the allowed vent rate for your mask of 30 L/M at 12 cms of pressure. And that is IF you are using the Standard mask selection.
Someone! Double check my math, please!!

Ron, what I have found is you can use that Mask Fit feature, get a good fit, and then later on as you sleep and change positions, etc. the fit isn't so good anymore and you can get a leak, maybe a minor leak, but a leak nonetheless.
The Resmeds do have a Leak Alert option that can be turned on (SmartStart HAS to be turned Off - you can only have one or the other turned On). They will quietly beep to alert you to the high leak if Leak Alert is turned on.

Yeah, well, when it comes to math, believe me, I am NOT always right!!!
