Ask a psychiatrist or a pharmacist what anti-depressant has the least effect on sleep architecture.

its usually trial and error with antidepressants, a pharmacist would be more likely to know

vivid dreams that wake you are common from all antidepressants

All meds should be agreed with your sleep doctor in advance. It is the best way to ensure a safe regimen.

It's not just a case of a particular drug having an effect. If you happen to be taking different meds for a number of conditions, in some cases they may clash and effect sleep.

Daniel.

I have been taking Celexa for years.  It is prescribed by my Psychiatrist.  For me I would only go to a psychiatrist for depression and getting medications for depression. I would advise seeing a psychiatrist.

THANKS All!!

I've been on Effexor XR for a couple of years and on CPAP for 9 years.  Recently I retested with a new sleep doc and later followed up with their Nurse Practitioner who informed me that Effexor was not a friend of sleep.  The NP suggested Wellbutrin; haven't heard yet what the doc suggests...
