Post Second Titration done (Does dry throat cause apnea?)
I just had another study done since I was still fallng asleep everywhere even after my Bipap. I had taken Provigil and it didn't help me to stay awake. Sleep tech told me my apneas got worse the longer I slept since I wasn't using humid air and that my throat was drying out causing the apnea to get worse. Well I can't understand how having a dry throat makes my airway shut during sleep. Anyone know of an answer as to why a dry throat would do that?

Also my pressure gopt boosted to 14 and 9. I do feel somewhat better but I need a week or two to decide.

Haven't heard of this before, but I suppose any type of irritation to the airway may well cause it to swell or constrict...........as a defensive mechanism. This would certainly wouldn't help your condition.

Daniel.

i've actually been wondering about the opposite.  i use a throat spray to lubricate my throat at night & wondered if that would make apnea worse?
