First night with cpap machine

Post First night with cpap machine
Just took home my Respironics M-Series W/Humidifier yesterday (Oct 27).
My experiences were similar to the titration: I had difficulty dropping off, woke up frequently (about once an hour),  but still feel better despite being tired from that. I don't have that mental fog and slowness that I usually suffer.

I have to cut back on the humidifier: there was water in the tubing and the mask, so that gets cut back tonight. I also am stiff, I think from sleeping in positions to try and avoid putting pressure on the mask.

I had to stifle feelings of being unable to breathe, despite quantities of air coming my way: I think cutting back on the humidifier may help here as well. I have potential claustrophobia, and cool air in my face is way way better. Heat tends to trigger claustrophobia for me.

Oh, and one final note I forgot to add at initial post: the machine smells like a produce dock.

So, the jury is out for a while.

Post interesting.....QUESTIONS
I should be getting my machine in a few days.
During my titration, I used the resporontics machine with the humidifier, but I don't know if they had the heater on.

Let me ask you a few questions.

1. Does your machine let you you turn the heated part of humidifier off? In other words, can you still use the humidifier without the heat?

2. What setting would you recommend setting the humidifier to? I was very clausterphobic during my titration, I know I am going to need some help getting started on my own at home.

3. Are you using the CPAP or are you using the AFLEX? If I recall correctly, that machine does both?

4. Finally, does this machine give you any type of read-out as to how well its working, leakage, etc? Or do you have to buy the smart-card, software, and usb-reader to get ANY type of results?

I am excited about finally getting my machine, but at the same time I am nervous because I had a hard time dealing with that thing on my face during titration.

Thanks - and good luck on your 2nd night!

I can turn the humidifier section off, it has a separate potentiomter like dial. I am going to have to call the clinic or the place which brought the machine out as I don't remember everything they told me. There is a way to turn the humidity off completely, so I think it may very well work as a passover machine.
I would start with a low level of humidity, I think some is needed. What you need to watch for is excessive moistue in the tubing and/or the mask, which I did. In the morning, you simply shake the tube out, wash the mask as usual, hang both up to dry and use a lower setting the next night.
This machine does have flex and it is doing it. I can set that as well, I think I may set it to drop a little more on exhale.
From the manual, the machine gives a daily read out on the little lcd screen, but from other posts it wipes the results at noon each day. It came with a smartcard (which I will have to mail to the clinic in about 3 weeks so they can evaluate the machine and the effectiveness.)
I posted a separate question on the advisability of getting the reader and software and apparently, it allows you to keep better track of the numbers, and evaluate it from day to day.
Good luck with your machine: the waiting is what kills you.
As for second night: I am still stiff from the first one.. I need to get used to this thing.

you should be able to lie in any position so if your mask has straps, tighten them enough to enable this

Thanks. I do that anyway. I just check to make sure (as far as I  can) there are no leaks.
