 O2 While Traveling
Ellabear; my wife has been on supplemental oxygen for several years. She has the large noisy concentrator that she uses at night, or if she is too tired to go downstairs and fill her Helios bottle. Under normal day-time conditions, she is wearing a sling over her shoulder, with a belt around her waist, and a pouch where she carries a Helios bottle. Set on #2, the supply lasts anywhere from 8 to 12 hours, depending upon how hard she breathes. We have a rather large heavy tank they fill about every 3 weeks, and also a slightly smaller one, that fits in the basement of the motorhome, when we travel. This smaller one lasts about 10 to 14 days.
We have never traveled by bus, train, or plane since she started on the Helios. But from what we can gather, most common carriers will not allow you to take the storage bottle with you. I may be wrong, but checked into riding Amtrak a few months back, and it was strictly forbidden to do it.
A few months ago, we inquired with a local charter bus company, about taking a trip to one of the out of state casinos, and they turned us down. Good luck on your endeavors. Sorry about throwing water on your fire!!
