I am a special ed teacher and one of my students had a meltdown today (this is NOT the funny part of the story FYI).  Someone came from a crisis intervention team to talk to the student and in the midst of this whole dramatic episode my eyes could only focus on the CPAP marks on the side of the therapists neck and nose.  It was the strangest thing... this poor kiddo was having such a hard time and all I could look at were the marks on his face.  
I KNEW he was a hosehead just like me!   I finally asked him when things calmed down and my student was able to go back to class and he confirmed....haha.  Small world eh?  
I apologize in advance if this isn't funny to you... I've had a hard day and sitting here typing looking back at my day its funny to me.

It appears some hoseheads are easier to spot than others. and although the humor might be some what lost, I think it takes a special kind of person to do the kind of work that you do and I applaud you for it!

Why should it offend anyone?  I liked your story!

I also have celiac disease.  Amazingly, I find people all over the place that are gluten intolerant too.  Of course, they do not have hosehead markings!!! They are the people I see reading ingredients, then reading them again, writing down a phone number from the package, or getting on their cellphones and calling to confirm.  I never mind asking another questions, or being the one that gets asked the questions.  I often tell them, "Sorry, but welcome to my world, wish you didn't have to join my club, but welcome to it!"

I can totally relate to your comment to the person with the mask marks.
I now attribute my ADD which was diagnosed a few years ago, for my off -the- wall comments about things like that. Yes, it may offend some people, but most don't mind.
Now that I've been diagnosed with apnea (and ADD) I want to share my experiences so I don't feel so alone. I find most people want to discuss it too.
Before I retired from teaching, I informed parents of ADD children that I also had it. ALL of them appreciated that, and no one held it against me. They were grateful that ADD did not mean their child would never succeed.
I'll get off my soapbox now, but I think it helps for people  to know they are not alone, and you can find humor in misery and inconvenience! (sometimes).
