Solution to Dry Mouth/Throat w/TAP III AND CPAP?

Post Solution to Dry Mouth/Throat w/TAP III AND CPAP?
I recently started using my TAP III in combination with my Respironics nasal mask.  It solved mask leakage, but now I have a different problem...dry mouth!  It is so irritating that it interferes with my sleep.  I'm guessing that the TAP holds my mouth open more, causing my tongue, cheeks, throat and gums to dry out terribly.  I even have a heated humidifier (ResMed Sullivan HumidAire) that doesn't seem to produce any effect whatsoever other than causing rain-out on occasion.  It certainly doesn't help with the dried out mouth and throat.

What I've tried so far: Someone recommended a product that supposedly helps keep your mouth and throat moist (mainly for folks on chemo I think).  It dodn't work at all.

Has anyone else dealt successfully with this?

I have another appointment this week with the Sleep Clinic.  Maybe there's an answer out there!

Thanks!

Ryan

There are some dry mouth mouthwashes, toothpastes, and gums.  The brand I use in the US is Biotene.

Post CPAP Dry Throat & Mouth
I have been using a CPAP since 1997 and have continually had dry mouth and throat even with several different humidifiers.
I tried a placing a Hall's SUGARLESS cough drop in the side of my mouth next to my gums. It can last the entire night and definitely keeps my mouth and throat moist. I also tried the chin strap and various mouth gels which haven't worked for me either. I have been warned by every med. professional that this is dangerous but in over 12 years I have never had a single problem. Try it you'll like it.

If someone has a better remedy please let me know as I go through a lot of cough drops although they only cost $2.59 for a bag of 25. Other brands, e.g. CVS are a little cheaper.

Ok dry mouth is definately bad for the teeth.  Does anyone here know if a sugraless cough drop and a dry mouth together can do any extra damage?  If not, I may be willing to try this.

Post Dry Mouth w/ CPAP
I go to my dentist regularly and have had no cavities for the past few years. My dentist says as long as the cough drop is SUGARLESS there should be no problem. He recommended I use a mouth gel which I tried and it wouldn't work. BTW-My dentist also now uses a CPAP w/ humidifier and has no problem with a dry mouth. Some people are lucky enough to be able to sleep w/o their mouth coming open. GOOD LUCK w/ Hall's cough drops. Why not try it for a night or two. You can always stop it if it doesn't work for you.
