Rainout & taking mask off

Post Rainout & taking mask off
Hi,

My humidifier is on setting 2 and I don't want to put it to 1 because the air seems cold.  However, every few nights water ends up in my face and the hose.  I wipe the mask and put it back on but then there is a really annoying whistling sound.  I can't take listening to it so I take the mask of which is bad I know.  I am presuming it is from the water in the hose, right?  Do I just have to live with it until the morning?  When I take the mask off in the morning I feel so hungover and miserable.  Are there solutions?  Oh, I do have a fleece covering on the hose but obviously it isn't helping.  I need to solve this problem so I don't keep taking the mask off.  I am using the C-Flex machine and Respironics Profile Lite Gel Mask (I think that's the name of it).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wendy

Post Dear Setting of Two
Since your profile is not complete, in that your location is not listed.  I am not sure what to tell you except that elevation and climate has something do with the heat settings.  I live in Pennsylvania and I have mine set at 3 during the summer and 4 in the winter.  I am not sure of my elevation above sea level but it is high, but not like Denver would be.  I know of some people who have their heat set at 5 during the winter months.
The best thing to do is consult your home health care person.

Thanks for the help.  I am in Baltimore.  So, if the rainout is happening then I need to move the setting up to 3 or 4 or to 1.  I am confused.  It's now at 2.

Having the same problem here in SC.  I talked my wife out of a piece of "wool felt" and sewed a cover for the hose.  The first time I made it too tight as the felt shrank a little.  I pulled the stitches and sewed it a different way (baseball stitch) and it works just fine.  Now I get little rainout and only notice it when I roll over.  I get a drop or so then.  I am a sailor and know how to sew so it was easy for me to sew this by hand.  I used pretty big stitches on the felt so it was easy to redo.  This procedure also quites things down.  My wife says that she cannot hear the machine now and it has greatly reduced the sound I hear.

I really think this will reduce your problem to an acceptable level.

Frank
