Post Thought I was having a breakthrough but.........(longish)
I could really use some feedback especially if anyone else has had this happen.  Couple of nights ago, for the first time,  I woke up after an hour or two and was able to go back to sleep.  That had not happened before. More astonishing to me was that when I woke up, I actually had a few moments where I wasn't really sure if the machine was on. My neuropsych therapist said that was a great sign, that it meant i was adjusting to pressure.  Well, following nite I tried to get to sleep w/o taking Xanax... no dice.  So last nite I did take a .5 mg Xannie to get to sleep. With the taping etc mask stayed on till my alarm went off (4.5/5 hrs) and I didn't wake up during the night. Machine was on, I didn't think it was really running but flipped the lid on the machine and screen said pressure was correct (11/cm).  Now... here's the part I DO NOT GET... I am #$%@#$ exhausted today!!! I take 60 mg of dexedrine to combat the ESD until I can get compliant.  Not doing a damn thing for me today. I feel worse than when I get only 2 or 3 hours of lousy, apnea sleep. WTF???  Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? Is this just temporary or is something going wrong?  BTW I have severe apnea with AHI of 52... so when I get lousy apnea sleep it is really lousy apnea sleep Laughing
If anyone has any insight, please help! I thought I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel..was it a freight comin' my way? (to paraphrase metallica!)

yes it happened to me. the more sleep I get with the machine, the more I get sleepy during the day

I even started another thread few days ago "Did anyone feel more sleepy after starting CPAP therapy" and I found others who have the same problem. have a look at responses

the ideas that were given: it might take a while to get used to sleep deeply enough with the mask on
or something might be wrong with the mask
but nothing conclusive yet
