Post The CPAP shopping begins!
Well, I've had the tests done and had my follow-up with my doctor today and he's prescribing a CPAP machine for me.  I have to find a medical supply place close to me and see what they have to offer.  I have absolutely no clue where to begin when picking a machine.  I know I'm going to have to go for the bigger nose/mouth mask as I went thru 3 different ones when I was at my last study.  As far as machines go, I have no idea what kind, options, or styles to get.  I think I'd like to get one with a humidifier as I get dry throat a lot.  What is there to know about the ones with data cards?  Also, any other options I should look for?  Any recommendations at all?  I think they said the setting should be best around 14, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the suggestions/help in advance!

Jim

I like my DeVilbiss IntelliPAP; it is available both as a straight CPAP and as an autoPAP.  Software is available for it, it is very quiet, and if you use a humidifier it docks onto the bottom of the CPAP so that it becomes a very compact integrated unit.  The humidifier is under the CPAP rather than beside it, so it is much less likely that humidifier water will spill or splash into the CPAP.
