Post ATTENTION ALL RESMED XPAP USERS !!!!
A Resmed user wrote to Resmed to ask how to obtain a copy of the ResScan software. This is Resmed's reply which the Resmed user posted in another apnea support forum.

This is their reply:

"Thank you for taking the time to email in with your concerns. We appreciate the fact that you are activly involved with your therapy and want to manage it accordingly. Because these devices and masks are of prescription requirement, we can not sell the ResScan software to patient’s . All of our previous software versions have been for clinical settings only and not intended for home use. The clinical software allows for changes in therapy pressures , modes, sensitivities where appropiate. The restriction for clinical use is dictated by the FDA . You may want to ask your physician for a prescription of the software that would allow you to purchase and make changes with his/her understanding that you will be in contraol of changing the prescription as you deem appropiate.

Once again, thank you for your email as we are tracking requests for a patient friendly home version of software."

So, PLEASE, if you are a Resmed user, whether you already have the ResScan software or not, write to Resmed and ask them to provide a software for patients as Respironics has done w/their EncorePro software.

The bold emphasis is mine.

Thanks for this info! I will e-mail Resmed tonight. I just picked up my Resmed S8 Elite II today and am excited to use it. My DME supplier wouldn't turn on the Patient menu though, so I'm going to have to find the info somewhere to change that. I don't want to make any changes to therapy settings, just view the available data. I have asthma and the tech set it up so I can't even see the EPR setting, I have asthma so that's one thing I do want to pay attention to,plus I'm a little paranoid about leaking and might want to set up the leak alarm. I'd like to view the data each morning until I can save up and buy software and  a card reader. Of course, as soon as I get my machine Resmed decides to make it difficult to get the existing software, so I'm all for them releasing a patient version. Thanks again!
