Post dental appliance doubled my RERA's
after five months of adjustments with my full breath dental appliance, i had my sleep study to evaluate its effectiveness.  results not good......i went from 19 reras per hour to 44 reras per hour......no wonder i have been feeling worse and worse...hard to believe that five months have passed......oh well, can't say i didn't give a solid try......so tonight, i am trying for a cpap titration......the last one was a failure! i never really fell asleep.....this time the doc prescribed by a sleeping pill......hopefully that will do the trick....anyone have advice for making it through a sleep titration?  i have UARS, so hoprfully i won't need a high pressure.........the saga continues......

Sounds like I'm in a similar situation.  Tried CPAP for three months but just couldn't fall asleep.  Have been using the Somnodent MAS for eight months now.  I feel as if I'm getting worse.  My recent sleep study shows my AHI being lowered with the MAS (much higher in REM but only 7% REM that evening) but I believe that's only due to the lack for REM during the study.  My Zeo shows I'm experiencing 25%-30% REM each evening.  That's out of about 7.5 hours average sleep per evening.

So back to the CPAP I go.  My pressure is low, set at 6.  I find that nasal pillows are much easier to tolerate than masks.  But then I know everyone is different.  Though I do have to say that I find it easier to tolerate the CPAP/nasal pillows now that I've had the dental appliance shoved in my mouth for the last eight months.

it went kinda !@#!.   i fell asleep initially for a couple hours....the tech said i had a nice stretch of an hour with no reras in deep sleep, then i woke up because my mouth opened and never really went back to sleep the whole night....the mask and pressure didn't bother me much{nasal pillow, pressure of seven}but i just couldn't get back to sleep.  too excited i guess....do you think that was enough time to get a prescription?

I'm no pro but from what I understand, all they need is a sleep cycle or two.  Do you know which nasal pillows you used?  7 isn't too bad, especially if you're allowed to ramp up.  I just started back on the pap last night.  Took 3mg Lunesta with it.  I had no problems falling asleep but did wake up twice during the night.  I'm planning on hitting the Lunesta for one to two weeks then try it drug free.  Although I don't feel much of a difference today, I hear it can make an immediate impact or take up to 6 months or so.

Just wish the dental device worked.  I'm one of the unlucky "non-obese" few so losing what little excess weight I have probably won't make the devices go away....and being a single guy on cpap isn't going to help much with the ladies  :)

I guess I'll be seeing you on the xPAP forums!

After 5 weeks on the TAP III, I felt I was feeling worse too and by quite a bit.  I didn't think it possible.  I have not used it for 4 nights now and I actually feel better (where I was before)  I need to call my doctors and discuss this with them.  Although I am sad your problems have not been solved, I was happy to see I was not losing my mind.  Hang in there, I have been battling this for over 10 years now with no relief. I could not tolerate the CPAP/BIPAP/AUTOPAP. I am now considering throat surgery out of desperation.   My symptoms are chronic headaches(24/7 hangover like), and fatigue.
