Post At home sleep study...
I have a sleep study scheduled but my insurance deductable is really high. It's gonna cost me 3500. I know at home studies don't crunch as much data but wouldn't I be saving some 3 grand if I took it at home (I heard they're like 300 bucks or something). Also, I'm afraid I won't sleep well in a lab with somebody watching me. My situation is that my gf told me I stopped breathing at night, plus I always had dreams where I couldn't breathe, wake up gasping, etc. Have suspected it's sleep apnea for a while now. Thoughts on the home study? What do they cost and what is a good site/company, etc..? Thanks in advance.

I just did the Polysom QSG sleep study ordered by my primary doctor. You can check it out at [Commercial Link Deleted. Please refer to posting guidelines] . It only checks for OSA, but thats the major thing that you  said you were looking for anyways. Its an FDA approved test and is a 3 night study. I beleive is was around 1,200 dollars. I paid nothing with my insurance.luckily. Its real easy to use, i slept no problem and my doctor recieved my results 2 days after I shipped the thing back.Nothing will compare to an in-house study from what i know, but this is a very reputable option to screen for OSA.

FAQ:

Q: Can I post a link to a mask or machine?
A: Yes, but link directly to the manufacturer, not a storefront that sells the item.

Q: Can I link to another forum, or post?
A:  Yes, but any linking that appears to be skirting the linking to for-profit sites rule will be moderated.

Q: I have just heard about this great new product, but it is only on a site that sells it, can I still post it?
A: Unfortunately no.  First off, if it is a great new answer to Sleep Apnea, it is not going to be on just one site, secondly, it still is a for profit website (storefront) and is not allowed.

Q: Can I post about a product and ask people to private message me for the link?
A:  Maybe, please send a message to sleepapnea_ed before doing so.  We want to keep out the advertising, without affecting educational information related to Sleep Apnea.

Q: Can I tell people how to find information from a search engine?
A:  Yes.  We are only trying to limit the links to commercial (storefront) websites.

Q: I was told that I should stop linking to forum x or y, but I followed all the rules above, why?
A: If it appears that the majority of posts are intended not to inform but to direct forum members to a commercially sponsored forum, the posts will be interpreted as advertisement for the commercial site and will be moderated.

Post are you a CMV operator?
Are you a commercial motor vehicle operator?   Truck or bus driver?

If yes then there are issues about a home study that is negative for OSA being accepted for your DOT medical.
