Post C-Pap and migraines
After a 5 year break from using the C-Pap, and trying the apnea mouthguards with no success, I am back to faithfully using the C-Pap every night, but I have a history of severe migraines and am still waking up with explosive migraines too many nights.  My apnea neurologist is working with me on this, but has not been able to control the migraines yet.  Has anyone tried Elavil ( a tricyclic amitriptyline) for sleeping?  I am now taking Klonopin 1 mg. for sleeping and Mirapex 0.75 mg. for restless legs.
Thank you,
Frances Renee

I'm on amitriptyline for migraines, sleep aid, and maybe IBS.  LOL.  I go for my titration study tonight.  I have been chronically ill for 18 months and a good neuro finally told me those symptoms were migraines.  So, I've been having migraines 5-6 times a week for 18 months.  Yikes!  Sleep study revealed 32.7 AHI's per  hour and O2 dropping to 86%.

I have noticed some relief and improvement in my mood on the amitriptyline.  I am hoping CPAP will help too and get my body the rest it desperately craves.

I took elavil for about three weeks for fibromyalgia and had to stop  because I couldn't wake up.  Elavil is very sedating.  Elavil is a first generation tricyclic and was developed from benadryl.
