Post Don't know what to do
I've been on a CPAP Machine for four months, had the test on the finger , my oxygen was OK, I've had a little improvement but not much, I'm able to keep the mast on all night, I'm still tired when I wake up and sore eyes. When I went to Mobile, Alabama , I sleep just fine without the machine, when I went to Nashville, Tenn. I sleep just fine without the machine, when I went to seattle, Wash. I sleep just fine without the machine, when I come home to Utah, I can't sleep even with the machine. I'm use to the cpap( like I said my oxygen level tested ok., any idea's?

The first thing that comes to mind is that all those areas you noted are high humidity areas.  Maybe you  need to up your humidity to see if that helps.

I am sorry to hear that you went without your cpap while visiting all those places. : (

I'm going to set it to a higher setting

While visiting those area's I my sleep was normal( go fiqure)

The reason I did't carry the Machine was because I heard people had trouble with airport security

Using a pulse-ox. is not a good way to assess sleep apnea.  You may desaturate, but many people with OSA don't and the degree that it happens even if you do desaturate is probably variable.  If you want to know what is going on, look at your AHI because that number directly correlates with the number of your apneas/hypopneas.  If you are having apneas or hypopneas without desaturating, then you are still getting fragmented sleep and you will still be very fatigued.  Do you have a full data-capable PAP?  It may be the humidity, but it also may be that your apnea is not being fully compensated.

There are many of us who travel here and I don't recall anyone having trouble with airport security.  TSA is quite familiar with PAPs.  Take it as carry-on.  Because it is medical equipment, it doesn't not count towards your carry-on limit.  Usually they want to take it out and test it for explosives.  But it isn't a big deal, it literally takes about 2 minutes.

John, I had no problems with airport secrurity. The were so nice and professional. They just did a scan on the machine that took 2 seconds. Don't worry about traveling with your machine.

As for your sleeping was normal??? Well I am not sure that is really true. You might have slept but you could still have been having apneas.

I have had ANY trouble with airport security.  Also while you might THINK you have no trouble that can be deceiving.  Best to ALWAYS use your machine.  : )
