Post Embarrassing Question
Hi Everyone,

I am new to the boards and have just started using my CPAP machine.

I have a really embarrassing question.  When I had my second sleep study using the CPAP machine and then my home unit I noticed that like 10 minutes into it I become aroused.

 Embarassed

Is this normal.  I have never experienced anything like this before and I am kind of freaking out.

Thanks.

BLS

Hi BigGirlSlim!

I agree it might have something to do with actually being able to breath well and relax.  In between that and the energy you'll acquire, your partner had better be prepared!!

BTW, I want your CPAP  Very Happy

I can attest to newfound feelings of, well, just about everything, after starting cpap a year ago, including this subject.
Before cpap, my interest and sensitivity to everything had gone away.  I was in a brain fog for years, and that is a type of depression.
And I mean everything -- interests in people, hobbies, outdoor activities, games, and certainly most things sexual.  There were parts of my life I absolutely loved (projects and certain people),  yet even these held no interest for me, and it confused me so much.
I've heard a lot of people describe the same lack of interest in everything prior to cpap therapy.
Cpap therapy restores your oxygen levels, much of your energy, making you feel more like yourself again, lifting your spirits.
Everything you once enjoyed can suddenly return like an old lost friend.

But I'm with Vicki ..... I want your cpap machine!

Thank you all for the replies.

Maybe it's because I am relaxing.  Before the CPAP machine I found it hard to relax before going to sleep.

My husband has had arousal problems. He has frequent erections not just when using the machine. Which off course is really obvious.

This is the most interesting question I have read yet.  I have not experienced this reaction from my cpap unit but tonight i will disolve a viagra tablet in my humidifier tank and see what happens.

Just kidding

Heard of a guy that got the pill stuck in his throat and ended up with a stiff neck for 4 hours. Almost had to go to the emergency room.  Laughing

I'm a woman and though I can''t say that the CPAP arouses me, I can say that I finally have an interest in sex again. Embarassed

Untreated apnea can lead to an imbalance in your blood gases (oxygen O2 and carbon dioxide CO2). When your blood gases are off, you can experience many problems, such as daytime sleepiness, etc. When you are on CPAP therapy, your blood gases are more balanced. Oxygen goes in, carbon dioxide comes out.

Perhaps your therapy, in balancing your blood gases, is giving you more oxygen in your blood and that is why you are feeling aroused. Your body may have been previously oxygen-shorted and now that things are back to "normal", you may be experiencing a sensation you had lost before due to your oxygen levels not being up to snuff. When your body gases are balanced, you are getting plenty of oxygen and your heart, blood, brain and all of your internal organs are nice and happy.

When you're not excessively tired, you're more blanaced and sleeping well at night, you may have more energy and therefore, more interest in sex because you're not too darned exhausted to think about it.

When you get a good night's sleep, amazing things can happen!!!  Very Happy
