adjusting to a full face mask...

Post adjusting to a full face mask...
I've been using a Mirage Activa for a few years now, and lately it seems like the chin strap can't keep my mouth closed, thus causing leaks.  I've gotten a full face mask (a Respironics Comfortfull2) and tried using it last night....It didn't work out so well...  I took to the nasal mask on the first night, but this experience was fraught with problems...

First of all, for you full-face wearers:  what's the trick?  should I keep my mouth closed or open?  it seems I wasn't drawing enough air and I was constantly yawning either way.

Second:  It doesn't seem to give me a good seal unless I tighten it down.  I've got a large, and I've got a big head so I don't know if going down to a medium will work.  Even if I tighten it a fair amount, after a while, the leaks start coming.

I'll try it again tonight and see how I fare...will report back tomorrow.

It doesn't matter how you breath with a FF mask.  There are a lot of options for you so don't consider only the one you are trying.  There are masks like the "Hybrid" and "Liberty" that cover the mouth and have nasal pillows.  A lot of people here, including me like the Fisher and Paykel Flexifit 431.

I wear a chin strap with my full face mirage quatro to keep me from opening my mouth to much which can cause leaks at high pressure. The makers say it doesn't happen but they are wrong.

Also, one of the main things you have rememer is to make sure the mask is free of oil and your face is free of oil.

Face free of oil? That's going to take some work, as my face seems to be an oil factory, ugh.

I tried using the full face again last night.  My wife said that I was having apneas while using the full face mask.  I'm already at 18 on my CPAP...not sure how this is going to work.
