Post Traveling to Italy on Tuesday and am clue-less. Need help
Hi Experts -

I'm going to Italy on Tuesday and am woefully ill-prepared.  I have a new Res-Med CPAP that is travel friendly,  but I have no clue what I need in terms of electrical current converters.  According to my manual, my machine can handle different currents, but I'm assuming that I need a plug converter so that the plugs match,  and what kind of extension cord do I need?

I think I can make it without it on the plane, but I'm going to be staying in a variety of hotels and b&b's and will need to be as flexible as possible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

K

I will not comment on the extension cord, because all my traveling was done before CPAP and I never needed the longer cord. However, all you need for the power outlet is a multicountry adapter, which you should be able to pick up in your local electronic supply shop. I have also seen them in stores at the international airports.

Good luck, and happy travels

You might want to look at electricaloutlet.org. It appears that there are several types of outlets in Italy. Have a good trip!

You can use a standard cheap dime store extension cord; use the outlet adapter to adapt the extension cord to the outlet and plug your CPAP directly into the extension cord.  I carry a cheap, lightweight 15 foot extension cord that I got from Target.

Thanks so much for the advice.  But will a dime-store electical cord be ok with just a converter without a transformer?

Yes.

Your XPAP machine has a bult in device to detect the voltage (110/220).

Definitely take an extension cord and definitely take a converter. I had my cpap on a cruise ship and my cord did not reach! Fortunately, the butler brought us a long cord that we ran from the bed to the vanity across the room! if I had my converter I could have used a closer plug.
