Post Humidifier Question
I use a BREAS PV-10 cpap set at 12 with a heated humidifier, and a FF mask.  My question is although the humidifier is heated and I have it on the highest setting, the air starts out warm (because I pre-heat for 20 minutes), but in 15 minutes it's cold.  Is this normal?  I live in Maryland and my bedroom temperature is between 62-65F.  The only way I've found not to get cold air is to lay the hose alongside my body under the covers. Any other suggestions.

You could also get a heated hose.  There is a company in Australia that sells them, the hose "piggy-backs" onto the electrical cord for the CPAP machine.  There are many posts in this forum discussing the heated hose if you do a search.  I ordered mine from their website a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for it to arrive.  Just do an internet search for "heated CPAP hose" and you should be able to find the site easily.

Good luck!

Hi SGN,

Or, you could cut the ends of cheap tube socks and string them on.  Or, if you are not domestically challenged like I am, you could buy cheap fleece and make a cover.

Because you are preheating your humidifier it may be that it is using up all the warm water when you don't even have your mask on. By the time you get your mask on and go to bed, the warm water is already gone, kind of like if you take a shower after someone else does, your water is cooler than theirs. Your water heater would need time to heat up more water for your shower. I would suggest if you want to preheat your humidifier, don't let it go for too long.

A heated hose sounds great, but it may not be compatible with your flow generator. You can get some flannel or sweatshirt material from your local craft store, they often sell remnants, and either sew it or staple it into a "sock" or cover for your hose that would keep it warmer. This would also prevent the hose from being uncomfortable if it rubs against your skin in the middle of the night.

Good luck!
