Fifth day - hey I may be getting the hang of this!
After 4 nights of not being able to keep the mask on for more than 3 hours, I changed my settings from APAP to CPAP with the Dcotor's prescribed 7 cm.
WOOHOO I was able to truly sleep for 5.5 hours with the mask!
Hoping to have a repeat if not imporved performance tonight.

Yeah, good for you! It looks like we're on the same track...this will be my 6th night and at the risk of jinxing myself, I'm happy to say that I think I'm getting the hang of it too Keep up the good work.

SleepyJean -
I pray for both of us that we get through this very difficult "getting used to it" period! I made it to 6 hours last night - how about you?

last night was my 6th as well... got up once for the bath... putthe mask back on, faught with a couple of leaks over night... a scary dream woke me up about 7am... then i slept for a couple more hours (on my day off!)
that sounds like a good solid 10 hours of compliance for me

6 hours - good for you!
I made it to 5 hours last night but I think I could have made it longer except for the fact that I have a cold. My nose was so stuffy that I had to remove the mask, otherwise I think I would have had it on for a longer period of time as I did feel as if I otherwise was getting some good sleep. Baby steps, but we're making progress! I'm praying for us too and sure I do believe in the power of prayer.

Sleepyjean,
Keep at the baby steps. An extra 10/15 minutes per night (or second night) is great. It's amazing how quickly you will become used to cpap.
Try and get your head cold cleared ASAP. Don't be afraid to phone your doctor for a prescription if you think it necessary. It's important to keep the airway clear.
Best of Luck.
Daniel.

dave_lem,
The scary dream around 7 a.m. was probably a good thing as you must have been getting some REM sleep at that time. I know that I have been having some dreams early in the morning too, not really scary ones, but weird. 10 hours, and on a day off no less! Wow, that's great. Congratulations. Keep up the good work.

Hi Daniel
Thanks for the encouraging words. If my cold isn't better by tomorrow, I probably will call my doctor to see if there's something he can prescribe. Despite having the cold, I am still feeling some postive effects from being on cpap and I look forward to using it without a stuffed up nose!
Jean

 Dreams
Sleepyjean:
Not to intrude, but how define are your dreams? I've been on my machine for about 8 months now and some of my dreams have become very....like real. Full color. When I awake, I remember every detail. Very detailed. Crisp and clear. Not foggy or hazy. Even in 3D where objects are in front of others. Some dreams even continue when I wake up and shower and get to work. Quite weird. Amazing thing is that they are all in color. Awsome. One thing I have found out that I don't dream OF people, but I remember the people that are in them.
Ok enough. Can't wait for more. This CPAP thing is working just fine.
