New user-has anyone used ResMed Mirage Vista nasal mask?
I've done 4 nights on CPAP so far and now I have a cold and the bridge of my nose is bright red and sore and the bottom of my nasal mask is pushing on the roots of my front teeth. Is this fun or what?
My current equipment: Remstar plus with c-flex and heated humidifier and respironics comfort gel mask (comfort-ha!), with pressure at 8.
Question-has anyone tried the ResMed Mirage Vista nasal mask? I looked at it on the ResMed website and it looked kind of good. It doesn't sit on the bridge of the nose and would allow me to read myself to sleep, which I love. There's also a kids' version of this mask, which leads me to think that perhaps it might be more comfortable than some of the others, since kids might be even less patient with discomfort than adults are.

 I Like the Mirage Vista
Dear Ann D,
I've had the Mirage Vista for about six weeks, and it's been a good experience. You'll find the air-filled silicone seal easier to deal with than a gel seal (in my humble opinion); it's the type of seal that actually seals better if you don't tighten it too much. The hardest part of using it is getting the adjustments right - there are many adjustments you can make for a truly custom fit. My DME supplier was very helpful in getting my Vista adjusted properly.
My DME supplier mentioned that some people don't like the Vista because they feel the straps on the cheeks are more confining than other headgear; I've had none of that trouble. He also said the Vista is less likely to leave face marks because the forces on the straps are dispersed over a greater area; it definitely makes almost no mark at all.
Try the Vista; it's been nice.

 Mirage Vista
Just got mine today after fighting a FlexiFit 407 for three weeks. Did a lot of research and the Mirage has loads of nice features. I could name off 5 or 6 easy.
If mask and headgear doesn't fit, forget it. I realize none are easy to fit the first few times but the Mirrage looks like it will stay adjusted better than some others.
Rigde Runner: Glad to hear the positive comments and your satisfaction with this unit.

This sounds like practically the same setup I started using on 12/28. The only difference being the Remstar Pro with C-flex at pressure of 8.
I have really liked the Mirage Vista so far. My only complaint being that I believe I used the wrong size of the actual peice that goes into your nostrils. After a few days I noticed a tiny sore on the corner of one of my nostrils, I would assume from rubbing. I switched to the smaller set last night and had less problem with iritation and no issue with the seal. Overall I am very happy with the results.
I can't compare it to other models because this is the first one I have used other than for a few minutes at the sleep center.

Thanks so much for the info
I'm encouraged by your replies about the ResMed Mirage Vista mask, so I'm going to try one in two days. I didn't realize it had nasal pillows, but that's OK.

Ann, you were right. The ResMed Mirage Vista does not have nasal pillows. It's a nasal mask (covers the nose.) I think sleepyben probably is using the ResMed Mirage Swift, which is a nasal pillows mask. The Swift comes with three sizes of nasal pillows.
I tried using the Vista for awhile, but it sprang too many leaks up toward my eyes. If you particularly want a mask that has nothing in front of your eyes, I'd suggest you try the ResMed Mirage Swift. I think more people have better luck (less leaks) with the Swift than with the Vista. Swift can be rather noisy but is comfortable for most people who try it.

I've had 2 nights with my CPAP [Respironics REMstar auto with C-Flex and heated humidifier; Respironics Profile Lite Custom Nasal Mask]. The bridge of my nose is sore. Hopefully I can make some adjustments tonight. If that doesn't work, I'll call the tech at LinCare (which is where the sleep clinic sent my rx for the CPAP).

 Mirage Vista
Got the Mirage Vista in the mail yesterday. Tried it out last night and am very pleased (so far). There are so many features that are really customer oriented, rather than just some engineers dream. Check out cpap.com for various mask features. Slept from 1am till 8 with just a couple of interruptions realizing, Hey this darn thing is working, now go back to sleep.
Will follow up in a day or so.
