Can my Respironics CPAP and hose accommodate nasal masks from other manufacturers?

Hi Ann!

A qualified yes if you are truly using a CPAP and not an APAP.  Respironics checks the performance of their APAPs, which use algorithms to constantly change the pressure, using only Respironics masks.  Therefore, they can only be sure of the performance of their APAPs if Respironics masks are used (though I would suspect the difference would be negligible).  If you are using a CPAP, there is no algorithm involved and there is not an issue with any mask you would use.  I got this info. directly from both Respironics customer service and technical service.

Sweet and comfortable dreams!

Vicki

Most certainly. All masks are interchangeable with different cpap machines.

If using Auto PAP you might need to check the manual.

Daniel.

What Vicki states is true and is the line any manufacturer uses to try and get you to buy only their stuff. Any manufacturers mask can be used with any XPAP machine (read as interchangeable) with one possible exception. When using an APAP from Resmed or Respironics (maybe others as well) the following info is stated:

You should be aware that some interface devices with narrow tubes, such as the Nasal Aire or the Breeze with Nasal Pillows, may have an impact on the ability of this and other auto CPAPs to accurately respond to airflow restrictions during use.

In your case Ann, since you are not using an APAP I wouldn't worry.

You can use a ResMed mask with a Respironics product. However, if you have a ResMed product, you should use a ResMed mask. ResMed specially designs their flow generators to work with their masks so you receive the best therapy possible. Good luck!
