Post Morning back pain after using Cpap
Hello All,
I started using a cpap about a month ago and after the first week I let the doctor know that while I was feeling much less tired, I was experiencing pain in the center of my back and chest sort of similar to an oncoming chest cold.  The pain subsided after being awake for a few hours but would return the following morning.  He had me get a chest x-ray which showed no problems and he decreased the pressure from 14 to 10.  I am still waking up with considerable pain in my back after sleeping.  My wife tells me I appear to be sleeping soundly and quietly.  Any input would be appreciated.

At the beginning of treatment I had terrible pains in my varicose vein (in my leg) and in my lower back every morning.  It too would go away after a couple of hours and come back the next morning.  The doctor didn't know why.  Eventually, with lowered pressures and time it has gone away.  I heard, on this forum, that it could be from sleeping more soundly and staying in a position for a long time or that the air was causing too much pressure.  I'm just glad that it's gone away.  So, I feel your pain and don't have any real answers for you.

Not an uncommon problem.

The back pain can be caused by the fact that you are sleeping quietly (no movement) as distinct to sleeping pre cpap when you would have had a lot of movement which would have kept your back 'fluid' (so to speak).

It's a result of restful, quiet sleep. I don't know of any cure, but believe that you will 'grow out of it'............at least I hope you do   Laughing

Daniel.
