Post "Rainout blues"
I am about to order the Australian heated hose, because I've tried everything else--adjusting temp on humidifier--hose under, on top of covers--less water.  I just got the Resmed Auto C-flex machine and I totally LOVE it! (I had problems with the straight CPAP)  I also have found the mask I like, the Mirage Activa(great for side-sleepers)--however getting back to the rainout, I have been waking with a lot of water in the mask, doesn't seem to be in the tubing.  The way it is made it seems to have a lot of space to collect water.  Waking up repeatedly with a lot of cold water in the face doesn't quite work!  I  read someone's post saying the aus hose got rid of condensation in the hose, but still had some in the mask.  Any comments on that?  I feel like I'm almost there!  The autopap is great and other than the rainout, the Activa is great and so I pray I don't have to search for another mask.  If I can just solve the rainout!  Before I spend $90, any other suggestions or comments.  Thank you everyone--this forum is a Godsend!

llaurajane,
you might need to warm your bedroom and be sure no vent or fan is blowing on the mask.  Warm moist air condenses against a cold surface,  generally the hose is the cool plastic surface, but sounds like you are keeping that plenty warm, so it is condensing in your cold mask instead.  The heated hose doesn't warm the mask, so if your room is very very cold, it could still condensate in the short hose to the mask(you can also make a little sleeve for that) or in the mask.

Hi Okie, try turning down the heater to a lower setting like 1...i use the cpap i've had at 1 and or not at all but always have water in the humidifier...also if your hose hangs down it can fill up wilth water...you may try a cover on your hose to cut down on the condensation also...good luck.
