Post New to CPAP and having some challenges
I have been using my CPAP for 3 nights now.  I have the Swift Nasal Pillows.  I have been reading on this board about how it might make your nose sore a bit and the Ayr gel might help, as well as adjusting the size of the pillow.  I will try the Ayr gel.  I am using the small pillow.  The tech who came to my house to set up my machine tried out a couple of masks with me and when he tried the Swift Nasal Pillows, he first tried the medium.  It seems like a lot of air escapes when I use the medium size.  He then tried the small and he said that fits better.  Of course, I have been reading how the small size might make your nose sore.  I tried the medium again last night but it does seem like a lot of air escapes.  I will try again I guess.  I do have a small nose, but I think it is more the opening size that matters.

The other problem I am having is that the mask kind of slips off.  The tech was very surprised and said he had never seen it fit (or not fit) with anyone else.  He was very skeptical of letting me go with the Swift Nasal Pillows because of how the headgear kept "popping" off.  It seems to slide off my hair.  I have thick hair but it is slippery because it is very fine, so it is hard to "grip" my head.  I really hated the nose mask, so I convinced the tech to let me stay with the Swift Nasal Pillows.  When I use the chin strap, it does help with keeping the mask in place a bit.  The tech said I have two weeks to try and if I don't like the Swift Nasal Pillows, he will send me the other mask we tried (which I didn't like).  I know part of the reason I didn't like the nose mask was because it was so -- overwhelming.  I guess I would get used to it, but I am really hoping to find something less confining.

Can I put different straps on my Swift Nasal Pillows?

I was looking at a website and I saw the ComfortCurve Nasal Interface System.   I don't see straps on it, so I don't know how it attaches.  I am so new to this.  You do need straps with this, right (don't laugh - a person can hope, right)?  I have a hard time seeing straps and understand just by seeing how they go/fasten on.  Does anyone know have thoughts/info about that mask?

Also, I am kind of having problems with the hose getting in the way.  Do all masks put the hose so that it is in the way?

Despite all of these problems, I have really tried to keep the mask on and managed to wear it for the entire night minus about 30 minutes in the morning when I lounge in bed.  The second night, I did feel like I got a better nights sleep and was more rested than usual, but the first and third night, I felt I was awake a lot trying to get used to the air, mask, tube, etc.

Please - if you have any thoughts or advice about how I can find a comfortable way to sleep - send my way!  Much appreciatd!

You might look at Fischer and Paykel Infinity 481 or Innomed Nasalaire II - both are nasal interfaces that are less intimidating.  I use the Nasalaire II with good results.  Good Luck!!!

I have been looking at the ComfortCurve Nasal Interface system too,  I did see a headgear that goes with it when I watched several of the videos about it on the internet.  I know others who don't like thier headgears and have created new ones, I have tired to do this and so far have not been successful, but I am still working on it.  I don't have the same system as you do, but dealing with the headgear sliding seems to be an issue with several women. Concerning the hose, I have found that by bringing it up under the covers on the bed is the best way for me to control it.  My mother brings it up under her arm, sort of clamped to her side.  I have seen sort of clips that clip it to the bedding to keep it in place.  This might work for you.  This is a great place to find the answeres you are looking for.  Good Luck.

I also have the Swift interface and the way I dealt with strap slippage was to put my hair in a ponytail.  It is simple and stops the top strap from sliding back.  Somehow that also stopped the bottom strap from moving.

Hey it's worth a try!
