let me ask a few questions
can you tell me how you are using the neti pot?
Just gravity feed? or do you have a "squirter"?

I'm wondering if you might be blowing too hard to get the saline clear?

What are you using in your mix?

You might try distilled water instead of tap water in case there is something in your local water that irritates your sinuses.

Are your sinuses normally clear? What is your motivation for using the neti?

If you remember, I joined this forum when I was suffering from severe post nasal drip that did not respond to all sorts of sprays and also suffered severe dry tongue and mouth. I was using a nose mask Resmed Mirage Activa. I tried our nasal irrigation and saline sprays etc as learnt from this thread. I also tried using the Biotene Dry Mouth toothpaste.

None of these really worked and I was getting nose and throat infections repeatedly.

On 13th December my sleep technician said the problem was caused by air leaking through my mouth an recommended a Resmed Mirage Quattro Full Face mask.

While this mask leaks like a sieve I have realsised that with a full face mask and a humidifier my dry mouth and tongue disappeared altogether and I have not had any antibiotics the last four months, no nasal sprays, no nasal irrigation.

The full face mask and the humidifier seems to have solved my problem finally. So if members who are suffering dry mouth and tongue are using nose masks, this might be the solution they are looking for for eliminating dry tongue and mouth

I've been reading about sinus irrigation here.  I picked up a kit at the pharmacy just to try.  Took a little while to get up the nerve to try it.  While I'm not getting real dramatic results, it does seem to be reducing my normal congestion.  I have severe allergies and allergy season is just cranking up here.  Why didn't my allergist ever mention sinus irrigation??  Thanks!  -Philomath, a small town in western Oregon.

It is very common in England, but not talked about much here.  Pretty crazy huh?  I don't know why.  My allergist didn't tell me about it either.  I got started doing it because my ENT told me I'd have to do it for the rest of my life after I had my sinuses roto-routed.

I just recently tried sinus irrigation and I think it has helped.
Allergies are really kicking in Maryland.
This has been a bad season for me.

It took a bit of courage on my part to try this.  I was a swimmer in my younger days and all experiences with water up my nose didn't stir fond memories.  For those reluctant to try this, it's not bad at all.  My allergies are full tilt at the moment and this sure has opened them up.

My right sinus has been bleeding since I started the CPAP, 5 nights.  I do have a humidifier and keep it at 2.  Is  this too much or too little?

You mention that this procedure will help unclog sinuses. My nose stuffs up every night even with the CPAP. Will this help with that?

I have suffered with rhinitis now for over 20 years and have tried everything you can think of at great expense to myself.
I have tried different nasal sprays, decongestants, flushing out the nasal cavaties with salt water both isotonic and table salt using a nasal douche, steam inhalation with and without menthol, if it's there i have tried it and i can honestly say after all this time nothing works.
 
There is alot of bull on the internet that they have the miracle cure for your problem, don't believe it they are just after your cash, if it was that easy then there wouldn't be a problem in the first place and remember if it's too good to be true it usually is.

At present i am waiting to see my specialist with the view to having surgery again for the third time ,but it is the only thing that i find gives me true relief even though it only lasts a couple of years but there you go.

Sinus irrigation does help most people.  I'm like you through and I do it cheap and simple.  Plain old table salt (yes I know table salt has anti-cake stuff in it).  I've had 2 sinus surgeries also and irrigation is the only thing that keeps me from getting an infection.  The ENTs don't tell you that your nose doesn't work the same/as well after surgery.

who told you that your nose doesn't work the same after surgery? the only side effect i know of is you are prone to nose bleeds.

I started a few nights ago and am having good initial results.

Last night I felt the itchy burning in my sinus like I was going to get sick. I went in and rinsed and felt better.

This morning I did not have any symptoms like I would have in the past.

Maybe I will stick with this a little longer...

I should have been more specific, your nose is not going to function the same after any sinus surgery in which ciliated tissue is removed.  The scar tissue which grows back is not ciliated, therefore the nose looses some function (i.e. the ability to clean itself out).  You should be specific as well, I am not prone to nose bleeds.

I have recently been to the hospital to see a ENT consultant and they have discovered as I suspected a polyp.  So surgery is neccessary anyway, I have also been keeping up the sinus irrigation as this was recommended by my ENT specialist.

Cinnamon and honey in warm water.

Just take
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 coffee cup of warm water or as hot as you want it. Mix and drink.

It will clear your sinuses or stuffy nose.

Do not know how well it will work if you have a full blown sinus infection but for
 just stuffiness it works great. I use it all the time.

I also use 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon of ginger
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of water
Take about 2 teaspoons for a cough it works very good
Only thing I do not like about it is you can feel the pepper.

These work just as good as store bought, but is better for you.
