Just wondering if anyone has an oral appliance that was paid for by Pacificare (HMO).   I called the insurance company, but the customer service rep couldn't not find any coverage.  I may not have used the correct term to assist her in looking up coverage.  

It may be a case that this HMO wishes more aggressive treatment that has proven to be more affective than oral appliances.  

Help?  

NOTE:  Heading in direction of CPAP, but I'm researching all options in order to make a completely informed decision.   Insurance coverage or lack of coverage will help in the decision making process.

I tried a "Snore-Guard" for first round treatment. I had to pay for it in full, my insurance wouldn't even think of covering it, since it was done by a dentist. That may be why mine didn't cover it.

I seems more and more today that insurance companies are only wanting to collect premiums, and find any excuse not to pay for anything. They also seen to want to drag their feet about paying anything, but if we are thirty seconds late with a payment they want to cancel our coverages.  When are they gonna learn that people pay for coverage so they can afford to get medical problems treated.

  Enought of that soapbox.

  Most will pay for sleep study & xPAP, or surgeries, but they will excuse their way out of most anything else.

I have PacifiCare and they paid for my CPAP machine in full. However, I dislike the machine so I visited my personal Doctor who wrote a prescription for the TAPIII. I took this to my dentist who sent it off to PacifiCare (it has been 1 week). I'll keep you posted on whether they will pay for this or not.
