Okay, I can understand where you are with this. One last comment on the ramp - if you are having to push it again after 10 minutes, perhaps lengthening the time would give you a better chance to fall asleep. On some devices the time for ramp can be up to ~ 40 minutes.
Good luck to you!

I recommend changing the time of your medications. Even before learning I had sleep apnea, I realized that I slept better if I took my medication in the early evening rather than in the morning.
You need to insist on the care that you deserve! Good luck to you!

Pungo, maybe you're right, but it could have been an allusion. Many meds are sedating, they make it hard for you to respond to apnea events. You are still having apneas, you just sleep right through them, causing even lower oxygen desats. They kind of solve the problem , you think you are sleeping better and may be a bit more alert during the day, but your body is still fighting a battle every night. Some meds, such as the effexor I was taking , disturb the sleep cycles, so If you really need them , they should be taken in the morning. Virginia

Grateful perseverance, and determination is going to make you successful, and like for many of us it can take time! Having a good sleep doctor is key, also a good DME, You most definitely have to have a mask that you can at least live with comfortably. I went thru a bunch before I found one that is OK! I also started off on CPAP but I couldn't get use to it, it did work well at first, but then after awhile I seemed to be getting worse again, and it drove me nuts!, I was using the ramp button all night long! After another sleep study I was changed to BiPAP. and even that did not work for long! And it has went on and on!
What type of apneas are you having? CA's, OA's MA's if you are having any CA's it is possible that CPAP could be making things worse, That is why you need to have a good Sleep Apnea Specialist. To help you get things sorted out and make sure you are getting the proper treatment and have the right machine! In any case it can be very trying and depressing, for some of us it is very difficult to get use to being a Hose-Head!, But just keep trying, we're all here to help each other! Good Luck to You. Thanks everyone! I just got to post; very busy at work. I slept over 6 hours with my mask last night! YEAH! I have OSA. I take all my meds in the morning and am weaning myself off (with Dr. supervision) one that I take at night. I just really needed to let out how I was feeling and to know that others had a hard time at first also. It helps alot!

Going to the sleep specialist is a good idea. If I do not improve in a week I will call him instead of the ENT.
It's not my medications. I have been on the same meds for over 20 years. My psichiatrist is thrilled I finally got diagnosed and is working with me. I am giving her a progress report this week.
I love starting the ramp at 4 and I even start all over again in 10 minutes if it gets to be too much pressure and too noisey to be able to fall asleep.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am not going to worry about it becasue I got upset today with anxiety about it all. I feel better just sharing my struggles; sometimes we just need to be heard and I feel so much like everyone heard me and I appreciate it! Its been a little over two months since I receive my cpap so it just may take longer than some. Many thanks.
The noise is caused by the ramping up as it is changing pressure. It goes away when the max pressure is reached. A longer period will let you get used to the pressure gradually. It does mean the noise lasts longer. Try earplugs for the noise. I started out with 40 minute ramp and am now down to a 15 minute ramp.
