Question About Sleep Reports

Linda. I wouldn't even patronize a sleep lab like yours. I'm not in the least interested in a sleep lab wherein there is no sleep specialist on hand to consult w/the patient and to write the equipment order for the patient and monitor their therapy. I don't want some prima donna sleep specialist evaluating my test results and sending the info to my referring doctor, who probably knows little to nothing about sleep apnea to order my equipment and oversee my CPAP therapy. I have very strong feelings about this.

Our local hospital has renovated their sleep lab and let their 3 sleep specialists who've been w/them for years go and sub-contracted some local pulmonologist to go over the studies, write the reports and recommendations to be sent to the referring doctors to order and monitor the CPAP therapy. I wouldn't go to their sleep lab despite my mother worked there all the while I was growing up, I had all my kids there and I have never utilized another hospital but Mayo Clinic's.

Some doctor's write "copy to patient" on their scripts and procedure orders. You can request that your doctor do so.

I'm gonna keep it simple and say privacy issues.  I have not had any trouble getting my reports faxed to me when I have requested them.  I can understand they may not want to mail something without your knowledge.  I don't even think my referring doctor has received any of my reports yet seeing as though I have had to forward them to him, LOL.
