Post Repironics Comfort Gel Mask
My husband just looked at a mask today--the Respironics Comfort Gel  (covers both mouth and nose)
it seemed to fit ok and was fairly comfortable at least for him. Any opinions on why or why not to get this type of mask. This is the new one that's only been out about 3 months according to our DME. He said it felt alot like SCUBA when he tried it--is that the ways it's supposed to feel? they set the pressure at 12 just to try because we don't have a  pressure rx yet--he'll be using an autoset machine.
Thanks

I am not sure that this post is going to address your post, but i'll type it anyway.

This is the mask that we use 90% of the time. We have NO agreement with the company, but our compliance rates (from following up with our patients) are highest with this mask.

On the contrary, the Resmed Quattro has low compliance rates with our patients.

Thanks RAM! and yes it did help! I just wanted to make sure we were getting a good mask. That was the one the DME reccommened but just because they're trying to sell you something, doesn't mean it's anygood  Smile It's good to know it's a good mask!

the comfort gell can be easily resized to improve the fit

however the transparent plastic clip holders on the front were breaking often, respironics says they have improved the mask but on a new one I had , a clip holder also broke, the plastic seems to be no thicker and the design no different

I would avoid any strong pressure from the elastic

I had an older one and it made loud vibrating noises from air leaks, the newer ones dont

the comfort gell here comes with the headgear, on some masks you have to buy the headgear separately

i'm trying masks out now and the first one they tried for me was this mask. I liked it other than when I woke up in the morning I had a lot of pain in my teeth where it was touching. It also leaked a bit for me when I moved any at night. I do have a beard and am going to save it off tonight to see if this helps with any of the masks I have. I have found I like the under chin full face masks more than the ones that sit at the bottom of your mouth since they can get a better seal if your mouth moves a lot at night like mine does.

Thanks for your replys! It seems to be working ok. Hubby got it on Friday and has had 3 good nights sleep. It leaked a bit one night but we readjusted it and he thinks it's going to be ok. comfortable too (for a mask.)
