Post Nasal Dialators
Has anyone used a combination of dental device and a nasal dialator?  If you have which ones do you use?  Does the nasal dialator have an effect on your OSA?

Hi, yes, I use both.  I use a nasal dilator, the little semi-circle that slips onto the nasal septum, along with Breathe Right strips to allow more air to be breathed in.   I chose that over having surgery.  It is important to have a good volume of incoming air but it does nothing toward helping the obstruction.  Just before falling asleep, I have felt my airway collapse and it occurred after the inspiration of air,  and the blockage prevented the respiration.

My appliance projects my jaw forward and the tongue along with it opening the airway. The problem is depending on where you live, finding a doctor who offers a selection of appliances.  I found all of the ones that are being made on the internet, then clicked on "find a doctor".  There are not many in Orlando.  One doctor will offer one type, another doctor will offer a different one and there is no way to try any of them out first.  If you don't have one yet, e-mail me and I can help you with what to look for.  You will wear this every night for the rest of your life and it must work and be comfortable enough to allow you to do that.

Good luck

Thanks Gigster,
I already am using a Somnodent MAS device ( for 8 weeks now) that was fitted by neuromuscular specialist in sleep dentistry.  It has reduced my apneas by 50%.  I also have problems with a collapsing nasal valve and they are trying to fit me  with a nasal dialator that fits inside the mouth under the upper lip.  It works to prevent the collapsing but irritates the gums around one incisor tooth. (to the point of bleeding).  I have purchased sinus cones (and they work) but was wondering if anything else might  work.  Breath rite strips won't stay on my nose for some reason.  Thanks for the info.
