What do you do when

Uh huh, Mrs Rip likes to yank my chain every now and then just to see if I'm still awake! Smile  And, yup, the lip flutters can disrupt and reduce your therapy every bit as much, even more, than full open mouth breathing. Because, mouth breathing tends to wake you so happens less sporadically than the air slipping quietly thru your lips unnoticed and happening more often thru out the night. In the end, a leak is a leak regardless the cause and too much leak reduces your CPAP therapy.

AND too much leak can actually contribute to aerophagia. These CPAPs can compensate quite well for small leaks, but they respond by raising pressure, the more leak the greater the raise in pressure trying to compensate.

No chain yankin on this one...do you mean APAP?  That is something APAP would do but not a straight CPAP...unless my head has been elsewhere all this time Smile

So I guess maybe you are still sleeping?  NA NA!

CPAP machines will vary the pressure delivered to try and maintain the set pressure (when leaks persist).

Yep, my straight CPAP could compensate for high leaks as much as 1 cm above my set 8 cms of pressure.

Nyah, nyah!!  Razz

Doggone it! A nice big piece of dark chocolate cake sounds good right now. *sigh* Twisted Evil
