Defective machine?

Post Defective machine?
Hi all. I need some thoughts from all of you experienced cpapers.  My sleep study showed a pressure of 7 cmf would result in a 4.4 AHi and all would be well. I have been on my ResMed Autoset II now for 11 days and the readings do not make any sense to me. They are:
AHI:          AI- 7.1     HI- 16.7     AHI- 23.8
Leak:       Median 1.2   95th- 19.2      max- 32.4
Pressure:  Median- 7.6       95th- 10.2     max   11.2

So what gets my AHI down to an acceptable level? Other than a defective machine I can only think that the sleep study was flawed. Any ideas?

Well, for one thing, that in-lab titration study was just a microcosm of your sleep, just one night out of a lifetime of sleeping every night. We just do NOT always sleep the same every night. What we ate, what we drank, medications we're taking, stress from the day, anticipation or worries about what the next day will bring; all affect our sleep. Add to that having to sleep in a strange bed and building, with all the paraphanelia attached, knowing someone is watching you, anticipation of FINALLY an answer to your exhaustion and the promise of a cure ..... how much actual sleep time did you get during your titration?

At the sleep lab you had someone fitting your mask for you and most likely had a better fit than you've managed at home. How long do you lay awake before you fall asleep do you think? I get MUCH WORSE data the longer I am awake on CPAP.

I am assuming you have the software and cable reader since you know your Median, 95th percentile and Maximum Leak and Pressure. Have you looked at the detailed graphs to see when the high leak and the 'events' occur?

What mask are you using and do you have it on the proper Mask Selection option? Are you using the Settling option and what is it set on? Is your AutoSet II set to auto mode or to CPAP mode? If in auto mode what pressure ranges is it set to? Is the above data just one night's data or an average of a week's data? And, most important, how are you FEELING since starting xPAP? Worse? Better? Hard to tell one way or the other yet?

..... how much actual sleep time did you get during your titration?   7 Hrs 15 min
How long do you lay awake before you fall asleep do you think?    5-7 minutes most nights, 6.2 minutes on the night of the study.
Have you looked at the detailed graphs to see when the high leak and the 'events' occur?  Yes. They occur in 'clumps' but not neccessarily at the highs.
What mask are you using and do you have it on the proper Mask Selection option?  Mirage Liberty and the setting is correct.
Are you using the Settling option and what is it set on?  yes, 5 minutes
Is your AutoSet II set to auto mode or to CPAP mode?  Auto
If in auto mode what pressure ranges is it set to?  4-12
Is the above data just one night's data or an average of a week's data?  One week
How are you FEELING since starting xPAP?  Same as always. I just assume that it is going to take some time to adjust as I did not develope this problem in a month and it will not be solved in a month.
