Post Provigil users INFO Please
My doc wants me to have a trial of Provigil for a few weeks to see if it will improve my daytime sleepiness.  I know that everyone is different but was wondering if I can get some ideas, good and bad, of your personal experiences with this drug.  I won't let this change my own opinion I just want to get some type of 'feel' for the drug prior to starting it.

Thanks everyone, Elle

I used it for about a year. It did help the sleepiness for a while, but the biggest  plus about it is it helped clear up the brain fog.  Had to stop using it because it was messing with my Dilantin levals, but since getting off of the Dilantin I no longer need it.  I think my problems were do to seizures,  I've noticed that now that the eds is almost gone, when it does happen its preceded by a bit of nausea and just feeling unwell. I'm on lamictal now, and  doing much , much better. Virginia

when you first start taking provigil your energy level will go way up and you will have clear thinking. As your body gets adjusted to the new found perkyness the edge goes away.

Kept my mind rolling when my body needed sleep.  If on it long term the dose needs to be increased as time goes on.  Can cause elevated anxiety, mood.  I hated it.

Me again.  I'm going to give the provigil a try again.  I've been depressed since I started the lamictal, daytime sleepiness is getting worse, and I still have half a bottle of the stuff so I'll try it and see what happens. I'll have to watch for mania, so wish me luck.  Does anyone have any real information on the effects of combining lamictal and provigil? I tried to look it up on the web, but all I found were bi-polar message boards and lots of people upset because they can't get their insurance to pay for it. They should try having a sleep study done, sleep apnea is so under diagnosed in the mental health community, its a shame.  Virginia
