What do most people clean their machine with?  I used soap and water the first time.  The second I used half water and half white viniger.  It smelled like a salad when I used it that night and wondered if enhaling vinger fumes was a bad thing?  Any help?

If you read the manual that came with the machine it usually specifies warm soapy water (soft soap).

Vinegar is an acid and will not help your mask.

Daniel.

Assuming that the equipment has been rinsed, breathing a vinegar odor is not going to hurt you.  The vinegar odor can be removed with a bit of baking soda in water, although it should go away on its own.

I switched to a very mild dish soap-IVORY.  I use only one drop about the size of a pea, and turn the faucet on full blast.  I get plenty of suds, yet use very little soap.  I do this daily for cleaning. Then, I soak the parts in white vinegar  about once a week.  I always air dry.  Hope this helps. Lantern

I am using baby shampoo.  I read that on the internet.  It is very mild.  It said to stay clear of anything that has harsh detergents. Laughing

I also use Ivory soap. I have to use just a little, it rinses clean, and smells good.

I've used JJ HEAD-TO-TOE Washcloths or dish-washing soap.  There washcloths are convenient in that the soap is on the washcloths and they are disposal.  Because its a baby product, they seem to be fairly mild.

I have used a small amount of dishwashing soap and have found it much more pleasant than viniger.  Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Very Happy

After about 10 months of having my machine I've finally settled upon Johnson & Johnson "no more tears" baby shampoo and an old toothbrush. The toothbrush is great for making sure you get the nooks and crannies and isn't stiff enough to damage anything. I switched to using Control III solution soaks about once a week instead of the vinegar because I didn't like the odor. One thing I'm working on now is trying to find a convenient way to actually clean the hose instead of just rinse it out. At the moment I just squirt a little baby shampoo into it and run the faucet through it.

I tried baby shampoo once... once. :)  No amount of rinsing could get that awful fragrance out of it. So, I switched to Ivory hand dishwashing liquid (upon recommendation by my DME provider). I still don't like the fragrance, but it's much better than the baby shampoo.

Hey there, I just got mine last Friday and was advised to clean mine with 2 parts water and 1 part white vinegar.  I have the ResMed system and the compartment can be removed for cleaning.

The viniger is not used for cleaning, it's used as a disenfecting solution to be used when you hava a cold or the flu.  Some people use it routinely once or twice a month just to keep their supplies free from infection.  You should only clean your mask, hose, and humidifier with a mild soap soap and water such as Ivory , dawn, or some other mild soap.

I was told to use 2 parts water and 1 Part "Distilled" Vinegar to clean my Resmed removable compartment.  I was told to use mild soap like Pamolive or Ivory to clean my mask.
